Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
Lou spent more than 40 years in the public relations/communication business. He founded L.C. Williams & Associates, Inc, a public relations counseling and research firm in 1985, and sold it to his employees beginning in 2001. During that time, his firm has served a broad variety of Fortune 500 clients, including La-Z-Boy, Lions Clubs International, Sara Lee, Pergo, IBM and Eureka. (Ironically, given his expertise in woodturning, his firm was one of the largest in the US in working on behalf of the home furnishings field.) The firm was, and still is, a full service public relations organization, working with clients in research, marketing communications, financial communications, employee communications, crisis communications and executive training. He is now fully “retired” from the firm, which continues to this day.
Lou remains active in the public relations business. He serves on the Commission on Research, Measurement and Evaluation; as an advisory board member of the International Public Relations Research Conference; and is an honorary Trustee of the Institute for Public Relations. He is a Fellow of the International Association of Business Communicators, and a former chairman of that organization. He is also a Fellow of the Institute for Public Relations.
His creative activities over the years included the written word, with considerable attention paid to photography. (He was a photojournalist for newspapers and the Associated Press.) He is the author of a best selling book on the use of research in public relations. He has been a frequent lecturer having spoken to literally hundreds of groups around the world on various subjects relating to the public relations field.
In 2003 he took up woodturning, and fell in love with the process. He works from his house overlooking the bay of Green Bay in Sturgeon Bay, WI. In 2008, he did his first show, and enjoyed that experience. In addition, he has utilized his photography training as he explored the natural charms of Door County, WI. His wife, Mary Moster is employed in his former firm as a Senior Vice President where she specializes in corporate communications, crisis communications, training and financial communications.
