This website explores two seemingly unrelated arts: photography and woodturning. Much of my photography represents a wonderous place called Door County, WI, but you will find other photos taken around the world. The wood forms you will see are turned in Door County...much of the wood from forests or orchards near my home, although there are plenty of exotics from the US, Africa and Central and South America.

Great photography is the art of looking deep into scene to find the beauty that may not be obvious at a glance. Some scenes are obvious, like the photo above. Great photographs capture your interest, your emotions and your intellect. You can find my vision for photography here.

Wood turning is the art of bringing beuty out of an inanimate object. In almost every single piece of wood, there is an art form to be tapped. Released, if you will. Getting that release comes from serious coversation between the wood and the turner. My concept of great woodturning can be found here.
